What to see at Oaks Lane Farm
Join in with feeding the animals and enjoy home produce grown and raised on our smallholding!
Acorn Cottage is part of Oaks Lane Farm, a 44 acre grassland smallholding surrounded by hedges and walls. We raise sheep, pigs and goats the traditional, slow way: outdoors, in small family groups.
Barney and Pumpkin, two donkeys fostered from The Donkey Sanctuary are a star attraction and love to meet our guests as do the cheeky Boer goats who like nothing more than a scratch behind the ears while trying to undo your zips!
Our hens provides the eggs you’ll find in the cottage and our bees the honey for your toast.
A large wildlife pond fed from a spring rising in the fields is home to ducks and moorhens.
If you’d like to find out more about life on a working smallholding and meet the animals, we are very happy to take you on a tour of the farm and answer any questions. Depending on your level of interest this might take around an hour or so and can easily be tailored to younger visitors. Generally late afternoon is a good time depending on the time of year. We do ask for a small donation to The Donkey Sanctuary in return.
