Gem of a Cottage

We had an absolutely fabulous stay in the lovely picture postcard, Acorn Cottage.

Situated in wonderful little quiet location, ideal for visiting the Derbyshire Dales and many attractions of the Peak District.

The cottage far exceeded our expectations, it was extremely well equipped, catered for all our day to day needs, was beautiful decorated throughout and absolutely spotless. It had a gorgeous little self-contained walled garden, perfect for our little four legged friend.

Veronica and Jo could not have been more accommodating and on arrival we were provided with fresh milk and eggs.

The village of Kelstedge was a nice little stroll away and the Kelstedge Arms, was very welcoming where we enjoyed a lovely meal out.

We will definitely be looking to visit again.

What a wonderful peaceful place!

Totally enjoyed being in the middle of nowhere and enjoying the sounds of the Countryside along with the noises from the various local small holdings with their various collections of animals. We even took up the offer of a tour of our cottage owner of a guided walk around their small holding and to meet their animals and the option to purchase some of their produce which was totally amazing!! Garden was a lovely size and very spacious.

“Wow what a hidden gem!”

We arrived at Acorn Cottage and were thrilled as the cottage was cosy, well equipped, comfortable, and extremely clean. It is in a lovely quiet area and the position was perfect! We would definitely like to come back sometime. There are so many places to visit and many beautiful walks, but we loved coming back to the cottage and relaxing in the private, garden which was safe and secure for the dog.  The children loved watching the sunset and watching the night sky and we saw many shooting stars! We were warmly welcomed by Veronica and Jo who regularly checked by text and face to face to make sure we were happy with everything and nothing was too much trouble.

Quiet and relaxing

We enjoyed a quiet, relaxing week at Acorn Cottage.

The Cottage was everything we needed, and matched its description on the website – very well located, equipped and comfortable.

Thank you to Jo and Veronica!

Will definitely be back!

What a wonderful week we had at Acorn Cottage!  Veronica & Jo are the perfect hosts and are always at hand if you need anything. The cottage itself is very cozy & the log burner is a very welcome feature.  The local wood is a must visit if you have a dog, Magnus thoroughly enjoyed exploring there.

Places to visit: Ladybower reservoir, Hardwick Hall.  In Ashover: Old Poets Corner, Anna’s Tuck Shop (great cakes J). The Gate Inn at Tansley (Great food!)

Thanks for letting us spend time with your wonderful animals; Barney & Pumpkin are such sweet donkeys & the support you give to The Donkey Sanctuary is amazing!!

Special thanks for allowing us to hold the new born lambs, so precious! 💓

Special mention: Thanks for the lovely local produce from your farm! Also the birthday card & honey, so thoughtful 💓
